Intersection of Seasons

Driving to work this morning I felt like we'd turned the corner on winter, 

it was lighter.

Time to feel lighter in the heart and soul.  

So much to reflect upon.  

Where must we go from here?

Even the kitty had fun !!!

how to move forward -

where will the answers

come from?

It is funny how all the pieces fit together.

Life is such a mystery.

This has been the best Christmas of my life

and we're still a couple of days away.

It is around 1pm.  I'm still in my jammies. Here I sit in front of the computer......the sound of the Dyson in the background....I don't even know how to turn it on.....cool huh? Yeah, I'm spoiled.

I've got a plate of warmed up leftovers and nice glass of white wine.

Damn, life is good.

Hope your holiday was as good as mine.

It was difficult to photograph, there is the metallic paint and it sure picks up the light.

In real life this is a bit more olive green........

What to think, what to say???????????

Most times I get to this screen and any thoughts I may have ever had about writing simply vanish is a poof of smoke.  Have I become such a visual person that I can no longer articulate what is going on within me?  Somewhere in that dark space between my ears, or better still deep down within my soul?

I keep a little scrap of a photo next to my computer screen.  It is the one of Georgia O'Keefe on the back of a motorcycle.  I think it is called "Hitchin A Ride To Abiquiu".  That guy driving looks like he could be a hunk.  Heck even if he weren't a hunk I go for a ride with him.    I don't know, there is just something about that photo that resonates with me.  The landscape, her clothes, the sense of adventure, the need to live a wild and free life....................

So that's about it for today.  What's up with you? 

Sleep and Modern Medicine.....

So after 24 hours of sleep and some Dayquil, I think I'm going to make it.  I'd wake up every now and then and think about how I wanted to paint but just couldn't get myself up.....sure feel better today though.

Yes life is good.

So for the second time in a  month I'm dealing with the cold from hell.  OMG

Sitting here at my desk trying to decide if I should give up and go home for the day.

In other news, I've been working on some new paintings and it isn't going so well.  I'm thinking I forgot to take my hormones and now I'm paying the price.

I put some gel medium on several substrates and now I'm not happy with what I've got.  Am I being too impatient?  (what?  too impatient vs. less impatient? OMG I am sick)

Went to the Weems Art Show this weekend.  A plethora of wonderful art.  I'm amazed at the creativity in this world.  People are so cool. Only went to look, thinking maybe I'd apply for the next show....

Gotta go, coughing fit.....more later..............

Why does every artist statement have to have this looooooooonnnnngggg drawn out philosophy on the meaning of life and how art has transformed, communicated, placated and practically created a cure for cancer?  Well, maybe not ALL artist statements but many of them.  Jeez, by the time I'm to the end of that run on sentence turned monologue I can't even remember why I'm reading the danged thing in the first place.

I'd like my artist's statement to read, "hi folks, I like to paint, I hope you like what I paint, please buy my paintings".


Am I seriously thwarting my chances in the art world if I don't use some, deep, fancy, schamcy artist statement?

And Hey, did you notice there is no image with this?  Well, Iris (grand daughter) wants some water in her kiddie pool so you folks are going to have to just imagine an image while I go out and fill the pool. Hey, a girl's gotta do.....................................

I'm A Wannabe

A NEW PAINTING

Hey there everyone.  I've been painting.  Wow, have I been painting.  With my kids here I've lost my studio to them.  Poor things, I couldn't exactly make them camp in the backyard.  And I thought not having a studio would put a dent in my art.  No way.  If anything I'm feeling more productive.  Go figure.  I tell you what, when they find a place and move out, I will be seriously questioning just how much of the "stuff" I'm really going to keep. 

This painting was started and then I got sort of stuck.  Chris Cozen gave me some encouragement and wa-la, this is the end result.

I really like it and your comments and/or suggestions are appreciated.

There is nothing as wonderful as a five year old building tents in the living room.

Or watching a five year old fly around the backyard using her princess dress for a cape.

And finally, waving goodbye as they drive off to "the ice cream social/meet the teacher" for the very first time.

Yep.  This is a summer I will never forget.

I KNOW IT IS SHOCKING !!! I'M ACTUALLY ALIVE !!

It has been a crazy wild summer.......more than I ever dreamed of......

The Painting Experience with Stewart Cubley

I went to bed at 8:30 last night. I got up at 6am this morning.  That is 9.5 hrs.  Is that right?  And it doesn't count the dozing I did in front of the tv after dinner last night.  How can that be?????  I'm sure I could sleep another two hours, easily.

Summer's End

It seems ironic to me to be creating art based on a fading and exhausted sunflower I took a photo of last fall.  I love the textures of this so far, a ways to go.  We'll see where it ends up.

I've been short on words around here for quite some time now. It isn't that I don't want to talk to you !!!! It isn't that I have something to hide.

I just love this little house. I love the egg transfer and the crackle and the ribbon......just the thought of how it feels in my hands gives me solace.

The road has been very rocky for me these past few weeks.

I hope if you aren't commenting it is because like me, you are just so visual and not of many words.

Although I must admit I do love your comments and if you care to say even more, I'd really like that too.

Sam and Marty ~ they talked about those girlie birds-you know the ones with the red breasts, they talked about the office and how nest building had become frantic with the onset of Spring, the latest styles in Bird Quarterly........the coffee got cold, but as it was a lovely and warm day, they ordered another cup and stayed a while longer sitting on the high wire just enjoying the traffic as it went by........what was your day like?

This is the last week that I'll have this view of the field and the cranes, Canadian geese, pheasants and all the other critters who come to rest, feed, mate and provide overall enjoyment during a hectic work day. Next week I'll be moving across the hall with NO VIEW at all. Oh well, good to have a stable job in times like these.
