THE ART OF EVERYDAY LIFE
I took this photo along a back road in northern New Mexico. I think near Penasco. It strikes me as wonderful that someone who built this rather ordinary barn would take the time to insert a wagon wheel up near the roof. I think it is lovely if not a bit quirky actually. Imagine the time and trouble it took to get that wheel inserted way up there!!!
Art as a valuable component of life isn't all that unusual ~ if you seize the opportunity to embrace it.
Look around. Where is there art in your life? Allow the door to open, step into those new ruby red slippers and await the wonder that art and life delivers to your awareness each and every moment. Take a moment to tell me about it.....I love hearing from you, sweet blog friends.
Have a great day.

Paula, love your post and the picture. This wheel is lovely and your thoughts about it are, too. Art and inspiration everywhere? Oh yes, I'm sure of that.
So observant to notice the wagon wheel! Inspiring that someone bothered to add that small touch...
Thanks for coming by my blog--I'm going to go look at your older posts right now!
Paula, I love that wagon wheel-- a kind of a rustic mandala or even a rosette window, as in Chartres Cathedral. ;-D
You are so right. Art is just outside the back door. The trick is to see it, as you have.
I just noticed you've linked to my web page. Thanks! I will link to your blog on mine when I'm on another machine. I'm home right now, in the studio, and this little laptop won't allow me to update my blog.
Found your blog thru Andrea's blog. Love this shot. Fun Blog
oh that would be Cest Andrea
Love the wheel and you are right, art is everywhere and everything you do can be artful when you are aware and living midfully :-).
It's good to know other people notice the little things. I live with someone who's wonderful, but typically "on a mission" to get places, and doesn't see half of what I do when we go anywhere, because I'm frantically trying to "take it all in." Lovely image and sentiment.
Hi Paula,
You have sure hit the nail on the head here with this post! First, I also love the wagon wheel in the barn...it says a lot about the subtle art aspects of your state. I find that in the US, in general...and we have to speak in general here, we move far too fast to notice the art in each day (it is also important to note I live in the Washington, DC area). As artists we understand the need for contemplation and reflection in each day, but that is not the norm. Is that also one of the reasons art, in general is not a huge part of the life of Americans? We clearly have a great respect for design which moves faster and often has less of the human touch involved. But when it comes to the slowness of art, things are a bit different for many. But what does make some stop, see, enjoy and contemplate in awe the small things in life and others not?
A wonderful post! Thanks Paula!
PS, like San, I am adding you to my blog link list! Thank you for doing the same!
